Wednesday's Wisdom

There's always a mix of emotions right about this time.  If you (or your team) have come in on top of the leaderboard, you're likely feeling pretty darn good about your accomplishments, as you should!  Though, you might also start to feel some pressure to be "perfect" to hold your spot and that can be stressful, so be careful of that.  If you (or your team) came in lower on the the leaderboard and you feel like you did pretty darn awesome, which you likely did, you might be feeling a bit discouraged, wondering if you have any chance to win.

 

I'd like to address both of these concerns in hopes of helping as many people feel successful as possible!

 

1.  If you're feeling pressure to be "perfect" then take a step back and remember that in order for these habits to become lifetime habits, it will require practice.  Try to focus on "progress" rather than perfection.  We all have bad days and fall off the wagon at times.  The key is to get up QUICKLY, forgive yourself and try again.  The more you get up, the closer you get to your goal.  It's all about the forward momentum toward your health goals.

2.  If you're feeling discouraged and wondering if you (or your team) can move up in the leaderboard, STOP!!  Seriously, it's very likely that the difference in your totals is minimal and you've definitely got a shot at taking the lead!  You really NEVER know what can happen in just a few weeks.  It's SO fun to watch the change ups in the leaderboards from week to week, rally you're team and let it be YOU!!  Even if you do find you (or your team) near the bottom every week, there is a bigger picture here.  You are working working toward a personal goal of improved health, etc and you have a reward tied to that goal.  WORK FOR IT, regardless of your standing in the competition.  Competitions come and go, but your life is important and WORTH every bit of effort you put into making it better.
